Internationally we have worked from the beginning with the pan-European INTERCONTAINER-INTERFRIGO for container, swap-body and piggyback transport on the main European sections. As of today connections are managed with the CIS and Romania from Verona. Italcontainer helped by Alpe Adria also manages a direct Trieste/Budapest connection, which is mainly used for import traffic from the Far East. Italcontainer is taking part in important European research and development projects such as Marie and M.Trade

Austria

The link-up with Austria is guaranteed via Trieste; the service comprises several full train-loads a day. We also link up other Italian ports and dry ports.

Service three times a week between Verona and Oradea supporting the Italian northeast industry located in Romania.

International services managed directly by Italcontainer

Twice-weekly transport between Trieste and Budapest, Hungary, with full train loads plus relative rerouting from Trieste to the main Italian ports and dry ports.

Spain and Portugal

Via MARIS service (Maritime and Rail Italy Spain connection) this initiative is intended to connect Spain/Portugal and Italy through an intermodal sea and rail service accomplished together with the ship-owners Grimaldi Navigazione S.p.A. of Naples. Main Iberian inland terminals connected to the major Italian dry ports/logistics centres via Livorno/Valencia.
